What resulted in them finally comprehending their oversight? Well, this is the FIRST induction after the distribution of this video:

TroopTube

I quasi-whined about the military shutting down some web 2.0 tools like YouTube awhile back. Well, now in an intriguing step forward - they introduce TroopTube.

It also seems to be driven by a sincere desire to connect those serving our country with friends and family. Good for them. They consider it a "retention tool". Corporations might want to take note.

On the geeky side, TroopTube uses Delve to make the magic happen. Seems like Delve introduces some interesting improvements to search across videos. Video has tended to be an opaque medium to search across - maybe this solution will make some inroads.

YouTube ordered to turn over data

While anonymity is assured - there is interest in all YouTube viewership data. Seems to me like that will be a bit of a job to review.

YouTube Warp

Just when I thought YouTube could not grow into a larger time gobbler for me, I stumbled on to this crafty Flash-based interface... Warp. Even spiffier than OS/2 Warp.

Productive time, I will miss ye.

One of my many geek pleasures is the Discovery channel's "Mythbusters". They have a really interesting interactive video tool available on their site to play with material they have captured using high-speed cameras. Enjoy.
